African Voice AI is proud to have contributed to the United Nations consultation on the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI and the Global Dialogue on AI Governance. As part of our mission to ensure that Africa’s voice is represented in global AI policy discussions, we submitted written comments outlining key priorities for inclusive, equitable, and development-driven AI governance.
Our submission highlights the need for:
Diverse and multidisciplinary representation in the UN AI Scientific Panel, ensuring perspectives from the Global South are included.
AI policies that support sustainable development, focusing on economic growth, digital equity, and social impact.
A transparent and collaborative governance process, where African governments, researchers, and civil society play an active role.
Stronger alignment with existing UN initiatives, including UNESCO, ITU, UNDP, DPI, and the UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET).
We remain committed to advocating for an AI governance framework that reflects Africa’s priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
