As Africa's voice in the global dialogue, we strive to ensure that AI research, development, and governance are inclusive and equitable. Our mission is to amplify African perspectives, needs, and innovations, making sure they play a central role in shaping the technologies of tomorrow.
Meet our Founder

Dr Haileleol Tibebu
Dr. Haileleol Tibebu is the founder of African Voice AI. Currently working as an Assistant Professor of AI, Tech Policy and Governance at the University of Illinois. Dr. Tibebu works at the intersection of AI ethics, policy development, and governance standards, focusing on fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in AI systems. Dr. Tibebu’s contributions to U.S. AI policy include published recommendations on privacy and governance frameworks with NIST.
In addition to assessing international AI frameworks and developing metrics for algorithmic fairness, Dr. Tibebu has served as a session chair at REAIM 2023 and was invited to the high-level UN’s Open-Source Internet for Good initiative. Through African Voice AI, Dr. Tibebu is dedicated to creating AI standards that support human rights and equitable, responsible AI development across communities worldwide.
